TransPharm is a EU-Funded project that investigates the transformation towards a sustainable pharmaceutical sector. The main goal is to develop more sustainable and greener Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), and simultaneously reduce the environmental footprint of the production of these molecules. Our specific objectives are summarised below.
Optimize the use of existing data and generate new data for greening drug synthesis and development.
Identify greener and more sustainable 'benign-by-design' APIs as a proof of concept.
Reduce material inputs and outputs by introducing shortcuts into API manufacturing.
Provide new methodologies to assess the sustainability of pharmaceuticals over their entire life cycle
Provide a perspective on future possibilities regarding actual use of greener pharmaceuticals
Transfer new knowledge to concerned stakeholders
